Job summary

Orion is seeking a welding yard support technician to join our marine projects. You will weld, cut, chip, and grind metal as directed by the Welding Shop Foreman, ensuring safe, efficient completion of yard tasks and adherence to project requirements.

Responsibilities include cutting with oxygen-acetylene equipment, fabricating from sheets and piles, and rigging for material movement. A minimum of two years welding experience and proficiency reading blueprints are required.

Qualifications

• Two years welding experience or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of welding trade practices and materials.
• Must be able to read welding blueprints and sketches.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and chipping per project requirements.
• Operate oxygen-acetylene torch and related equipment.
• Rigs and positions steel plates and sheet piles with cranes or winches.
• Fabricate parts using saws, presses, drills, and grinders.
• Inspect and perform minor repairs on welding equipment; report needs to Foreman.
