Job summary

Orion, Inc. is seeking a yard maintenance support role focused on welding and metal fabrication for marine projects. The incumbent will read blueprints and perform cutting, welding, grinding, and chipping as required, with potential bilingual advantage.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Welding Shop Foreman and other crew, obtaining permits, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance on every job site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years welding experience or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Capable of passing standard welding tests and proficient with stick welding in all positions.

Responsibilities

• Works as assigned by the Welding Shop Foreman to support marine yard projects.
• Gathers information on scope and obtains necessary permits before welding.
• Cuts, welds, chips, and grinds metal as required by the project.
• Operates oxygen-acetylene cutting torch and related equipment as needed.
• Welds sheet metal pieces after pile driving.
• Rigs cable for lifting and moving objects; assists with placing steel plates and sheet piles.
• Operates saws, presses, drills, and grinders to fabricate parts for repairs.
• Inspects welding equipment and notifies Foreman of parts needed.
