Job description

Marine Warranty Services is a team within our Markets and Risk Business Unit that delivers marine warranty services for Oil & Gas and Renewable Projects across the world but primarily focusing in North America. Our customer base includes Oil & Gas majors, Offshore Wind Farm Developers, Installation Contractors, Underwriting Companies and Project Cargo transporters.

DNV Energy Systems- Markets and Risks is seeking a Senior Marine Warranty Engineer (Naval Architect / Civil or Structural engineer) with offshore transportation and/or installation engineering experience. The successful candidate will work predominantly on Marine Warranty and Consultancy projects. In addition, they will also be required to work at a package/project manager level.

This position will be located out of our Houston, TX or Medford, MA office.

The Senior Marine Warranty Engineer will undertake MWS engineering review, consultancy and site attendances on marine warranty projects including: Offshore/marine transportation, heavy lifts, load-out and installation of fixed and floating structures, pipelines and cables, subsea equipment and project cargo.

What You’ll Do

  • Technical document reviews and site attendances with respect to MWS requirements
  • Meeting the project schedule and budget for MWS projects.
  • Ensuring that the project is delivered in accordance with the agreed project technical standards and current industry codes
  • When managing MWS project(s) candidate will be responsible for timely delivery of project deliverable as per project scope and expectations of our client, ensuring quality of deliverables, risk management, liaising with clients, technical delivery, delegating certain projects/tasks, report writing, checking, authorization, and submission, surveyor mobilizations and logistics, cost control and invoicing
  • Preparing of bids/proposals in conjunction with the other members of the bid team.
Position Qualifications

What is Required

  • Professional Engineer (or working towards PE); with a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, Subsea Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant offshore load out, transportation and installation experience, with Offshore Windfarm foundations/ WTG’s would be an advantage
  • Up to date knowledge of Loadout, Installation and Transportation methods, Codes of Practice, Rules and Guidelines
  • Experience in delivering MWS/Consultancy projects within schedule and on budget, demonstrating a proven ability for project management
  • Role is office based but must have the ability to travel domestically, internationally, and to offshore locations for periods of time and sometimes at a short notice
  • BOSIET / GWO Certificate together with a valid offshore medical certificate
  • Good communication skills at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
  • Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office Suite as a minimum)
  • Motivated to learn and grow their professional career
  • Team Player, ability to multi-task and logical thinking
  • We conduct pre-employment background and drug screenings

What is Preferred

  • Experience in preparations of bids
  • Knowledge of cost estimation and Contractual aspects of proposal preparation
  • Experience in the transport and installation of wind turbine generator components and foundations
  • Experience in working in wind farm installation projects
