What You Will Be Doing:

As a Marine Technician you will provide field service support of Marine engines and generators found in various types of commercial and pleasure craft. Duties will include field service diagnostics, maintenance and repair of Caterpillar and other makes engines and equipment in a variety of marine applications and providing our customers with excellent customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining and promoting a culture of Safety. Follow all current safety and PPE requirements. Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections to ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition and report any issues found to management. Perform Lock-out Tag-out procedures when necessary.
  • Works in a neat and orderly manner, maintaining a clean work environment and a constant focus on completing the task at hand with safety and contamination control in mind.
  • Proficiently and accurately perform maintenance, diagnose and repairs on Caterpillar and other makes of marine engines and generators.
  • Apply specific failure analysis techniques and procedures in determining root cause of failures and relaying that information to customers and office personnel.
  • Cares for and maintains company machines/equipment to the highest standards and ensures co-workers are doing the same.
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Write full reports on findings from field service events, with clear, concise information
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers on the status of their maintenance and/or repairs.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required depending on customer needs & fluctuating workloads, also need to be available for after-hours calls as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL license if required

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.

To be successful in this position you should have a strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools applicable to the position and the desire to learn. You should possess a strong sense of urgency and desire to provide superior customer service. The ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent .

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience performing maintenance, diagnose and repairs on Caterpillar and other makes of marine engines and generators.
  • Knowledge and experience with Marine Transmissions, drives and propulsion controls a plus

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Course work from accredited trade school, college or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics is desirable.
