Job summary

Shipworker.com seeks an experienced naval architect or marine engineer to lead structural and outfitting design across vessel construction projects in Rhode Island. You will manage a design team, coordinate with production, purchasing, and project management to ensure buildable, regulatory-compliant deliverables on schedule.

Responsibilities include reviewing 2D/3D drawings, mentoring designers, and ensuring adherence to ABS and USCG rules.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
8–10 years in ship design with leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of hull structure and outfitting systems.
Experience mentoring design teams.
Proficient in AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, Navisworks.
Familiar with ABS, USCG, and other maritime regulations.
Experience reviewing 2D/3D drawings and production packages.
Understanding shipyard fabrication and constructability.
