Job summary

HEGER Dry Dock, Inc. (HEGER) seeks a full-time engineer to join the design, engineering and inspection of waterfront structures, including steel floating docks, graving docks and related systems.

The position blends office design work with field inspections at shipyards across the US and occasional international sites, with travel typically 1–4 days per trip and a 60% office / 40% field split.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture
• 0–3 years of experience in analysis and design
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
• Ability to perform fieldwork including climbing structures and inspections in confined spaces
• Engineerin–In-Training (EIT) certification
• PE licensure in Civil/Structural/Marine/Naval Architecture
• OSHA 10-hour safety training
• Experience with finite element analysis programs

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and analysis of new steel structures and production of design-level drawings
• Perform quality control reviews of similar work by others
• Conduct field inspections of waterfront facilities and prepare detailed reports with repair lists and recommendations
