Job summary

Hatch in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead port and marine structural design initiatives. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, coordinate packages, and ensure cost-effective, compliant solutions for complex waterfront projects.

The role requires 8+ years in port/marine design, a structural/civil engineering degree, and a PE license or eligibility within 1–2 years. Travel domestically and internationally is expected as part of project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering; master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years in detailed design of port and/or marine structures, including design for reinforced concrete, steel, and waterfront materials.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years (California PE strongly preferred).
• Travel domestically and internationally for site visits, meetings, and workshops.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Engineer, Package Coordinator, or Manager on engagements, overseeing teams, deliverables, budgets, and client interactions.
• Apply engineering principles to deliver cost-effective solutions in multidisciplinary environments.
• Conduct marine structural engineering and design following established standards and client needs.
• Collect and interpret engineering data to support project objectives and decisions.
• Prepare drawings, RFIs, permit applications, specifications, and analyses.
• Lead proposals and build client relationships to identify new business opportunities.
