Job summary

Boater’s World Marine Centers in Lake Placid, Florida is seeking an organized Service Writer/Marine Service Advisor to be the primary contact between customers and our service team. You will coordinate appointments, prepare estimates, and communicate progress throughout the repair process.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service and detail orientation, with experience in marine dealership or related service fields.

Qualifications

• Previous marine dealership or marine service center experience
• Service advising experience in automotive, powersports, RV, or equipment dealerships
• Experience using Lightspeed or a comparable dealership management system
• Familiarity with Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, or other marine engine manufacturers
• Basic understanding of outboard engines, marine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs
• Experience with warranty claims, service estimates, and repair order processing
• Experience recommending preventative maintenance and additional service work

Responsibilities

• Greet service customers and schedule maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs
• Listen to customer concerns and document issues and requested services
• Explain recommended repairs, maintenance services, estimates, and timelines
• Provide updates regarding repair progress, parts availability, and changes to timelines
• Respond professionally to questions and service-related issues
• Build customer relationships to encourage repeat business
• Create, update, and manage repair orders using Lightspeed or applicable systems
• Document concerns, findings, and authorizations accurately
• Prepare service estimates and communicate costs
• Coordinate with technicians and the Service Manager to prioritize work
• Monitor open repair orders and follow up on approvals and parts
• Review completed repair orders before invoicing
• Assist with warranty documentation and service processes
• Coordinate customer pickups and ensure readiness for delivery
• Recommend preventative maintenance and additional services
• Support the Service Manager with scheduling and admin tasks
