Job Summary:

Technical Safety Audit and Compliance Manager

This position supports the Safety Compliance team of Disney Cruise Line, assisting the Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with the Disney Cruise Line Safety Management System, Disney Corporate Safety Standards, and relevant International, National, Flag State, and Local Regulations. The role involves continuous safety improvements and fostering a strong safety culture through collaboration with operational departments, including identification, assessment, and resolution of Marine and Technical safety issues across the fleet and islands.

Key knowledge areas include engineering or electrical maintenance, technical operational management of large cruise ships, propulsion, auxiliary generators, deck machinery, high voltage electrical systems, air conditioning, steering gear, fuel systems (including LNG), marine control systems, SOLAS Safe Return to Port, firefighting and lifesaving appliances, MARPOL pollution prevention, and damage stability.

This Florida-based role may require international travel of 25-30%.

You Will:
  • Conduct audits and work effectively with team members, maintaining trustworthy relationships with all organizational levels.
  • Develop listening skills during SMS audits, assess performance, and report non-conformities.
  • Enter audit reports into the corporate tracking system, evaluate corrective actions, and ensure their closure.
  • Prepare for audits, improve audit scopes, and collaborate on safety improvements.
  • Develop safety recommendations, produce safety messaging and alerts, and assist in incident root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with marine and technical operations on safety issues and review action plans for compliance and improvement.
  • Maintain knowledge of maritime regulations, assist in investigations, and handle confidential information appropriately.
You Will Have:
  • A technical marine education with 5+ years of seagoing experience on large cruise ships.
  • Experience in strategic listening, prioritization, and task initiation.
  • Strong communication skills across organizational levels and the ability to present formally.
  • Understanding of complex marine and technical systems.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and travel with a valid passport.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teamwork, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills.
  • ISM Code Lead Auditor certification or ISO 9001 lead auditor training.
  • Knowledge of classification society rules, ISM, SOLAS, MLC, ISPS, MARPOL, STCW, ILO, IGF Code, flag, and port regulations.
  • Experience with US Coast Guard cruise ship examiner training and Public Health Vessel Sanitation Program.
Required Education:
  • Qualified STCW Engineering Unlimited 2nd Engineer or above, or STCW Electrical Officer.
