Job summary

Solvere Technical Group in Baltimore seeks a Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion) – Journeyman to support federal shipbuilding programs. You will analyze propulsion systems, develop data packages, and perform trade studies for U.S. Government maritime projects.

The role requires ABS/NVR knowledge, propulsion expertise, and strong technical writing. Travel may be needed; security clearance is preferred. Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $97,000 annually with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years in marine mechanical engineering or propulsion systems.
  • Experience developing ship propulsion systems and propulsion control.
  • Experience with ship weight assessments and propulsion trade studies.
  • Ability to analyze configurations and prepare technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for government/contractor audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses of ship propulsion systems and alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain technical data packages and engineering docs.
  • Perform propulsion system trade studies for configurations.
  • Develop propulsion concepts, machinery layouts, and control designs.
  • Support propulsion system integration and optimization.
  • Conduct weight assessments related to propulsion equipment.
  • Evaluate propulsion performance and recommend design improvements.
  • Ensure designs comply with ABS, NVR, and standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and government stakeholders.
