Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO is seeking personnel to install, maintain, and repair ship propulsion and auxiliary systems, including steam, gas turbine, and diesel propulsion, along with propulsion shafting and rudders. The role also covers repairing ship fluid systems, pumps, purifiers, and valves, plus testing equipment to meet specifications.

The position requires reading blueprints, using precision tools, and working safely at heights and in confined spaces on ships.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education preferred.
• Minimum three years in related experience or three years in U.S. Navy ratings: MM, En, BT or MR are required.
• Training in machine shop, hardware alignment and blueprint reading.
• Ability to use hand tools and to read technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair ship propulsion systems including steam, gas turbine and diesel propulsion.
• Maintain ship fluid systems, pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, hydraulic motors and valves.
• Test equipment to ensure specifications are met and test shop equipment.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.
