Job summary

Cabras-Marine-Corporation is seeking a Marine Mechanic to operate, test, and maintain steam turbines, reduction gears, and auxiliary systems on ships. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and repair engines and propulsion equipment while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires 3–5 years related experience in marine mechanics, strong communication and teamwork, and a detail-oriented approach to safety. Work will support various shipboard systems and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and commission marine machinery and equipment per specs and safety regs.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on engines and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshoot, and repair marine machinery and onboard equipment.
  • Develop, update and follow SOPs and JSAs for safe work practices.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, and inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with crew and maintenance personnel across shifts for smooth operations.
  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Keep work area clean and compliant with safety and environmental standards.
  • Follow shutdown procedures and lockout/tagout protocols when servicing equipment.

Job description

GENERAL

Operate and maintain steam turbines and reduction gears used for ship propulsion and auxiliary machinery such as turbogenerators, pumps, and oil purifiers. Maintain auxiliary machinery outside of main machinery spaces, such as electrohydraulic steering engines and elevators, refrigeration plants, air conditioning systems and desalinization plants. Operates and maintains compressed gas producing plants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, test, and commission marine machinery and equipment in accordance with technical specifications and safety regulations.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on engines, mechanical systems, and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime and extend service life.
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs on marine machinery, including engines, propulsion systems, and onboard equipment.
  • Develop, update, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to ensure safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs, repair records, and inspection reports.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with crew members and other maintenance personnel across shifts to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and security of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Follow proper shutdown procedures and implement lockout/tagout protocols when servicing or securing equipment.
