Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Machinery Assembler/Machinist with 5+ years of experience in shipyard environments. You will read drawings, assemble and align propulsion systems, and operate lathes, mills, grinders, and plasma cutters to tight tolerances.

You will work both independently and as part of a crew, adhere to safety standards, and may supervise others as needed. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle heights up to 60 ft.

Qualifications

• 5+ Years’ experience as a Machinery Assembler, or Machinist (Journeyman)
• Knowledge of shipyard safety practices and vessel terminology
• Ability to read, interpret specifications, and work from drawings and blueprints
• Ability to understand and apply basic math skills
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work at heights up to 60 ft
• Experience with laser alignment (Rotoline, Pinpoint) and NAVSEA standards

Responsibilities

• Install and align major equipment and propulsion systems per blueprints
• Aligns and locks down engines and gear boxes during sea trials
• Layout, cut, form, machine, and prepare for final assembly of parts
• Operate lathe, milling machine, grinder, and other shop tools
• Test and inspect parts to ensure tolerances meet specs
• Maintain clean, safe work environment and follow safety policies
