Job summary

Northrop Grumman Oxnard, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineer or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our field team designing, analyzing, and delivering marine systems for mission-critical platforms.

This role covers design for manufacturability, CM migration using SolidWorks PDM/Teamcenter/Windchill, and collaboration with leadership and customers; travel up to 25% and a TS clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 1+ years relevant experience for Mechanical Engineer; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years for entry
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 4+ years relevant experience for Principal Mechanical Engineer; Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 2+ years for senior

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications.
• Migrate models and drawings into new configuration management (CM) tools (SolidWorks Product Data Manager).
• Design for manufacturability and maintainability.
• Innovate conceptual designs involving hydraulics, pneumatics, structures, and/or mechanisms per customer and mission requirements.
• Select and analyze material for strength, weight efficiency, and corrosion considerations.
• Support design through system installation, testing, operation, and training.
• Write and edit documentation for production and maintenance procedures.
• Analyze and derive requirements.
