Job summary

Solvere Technical Group is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanical Engineer (Auxiliary) – Journeyman to support federal shipbuilding and acquisition programs. The role focuses on analysis, design, optimization, and integration of shipboard auxiliary systems and the development of technical data packages.

The engineer will perform trade studies, ensure compliance with ABS/USN standards, and collaborate with government and contractor teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of documented experience designing, optimizing, and integrating marine auxiliary and piping systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing ship machinery integration and cargo and weight handling systems analyses.
  • Experience supporting federal shipbuilding or boatbuilding acquisition programs is preferred.
  • Experience supporting DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs is preferred.
  • Active Secret (T3) security clearance required.

Job description

Solvere Technical Group is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanical Engineer (Auxiliary) – Journeyman to support federal shipbuilding and acquisition programs. The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise in the analysis, design, optimization, and integration of shipboard auxiliary systems, supporting the development of technical data packages, engineering reviews, and trade studies for U.S. Government maritime programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct engineering analysis and design of shipboard auxiliary systems.
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical data packages and engineering documentation.
  • Perform engineering trade studies to evaluate design alternatives and system performance.
  • Design, optimize, and integrate marine auxiliary and piping systems.
  • Perform ship machinery integration analyses and calculations.
  • Conduct cargo handling and weight handling system calculations and analyses.
  • Ensure designs comply with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), U.S. Navy (USN), and applicable commercial marine industry standards.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and provide engineering recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, program management, and government stakeholders to support ship design, construction, and acquisition efforts.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), U.S. Navy (USN), and commercial industry standards applicable to shipboard auxiliary systems.
  • Knowledge of marine auxiliary systems, piping systems, ship machinery integration, cargo handling systems, and weight handling systems.
  • Ability to conduct engineering analyses, perform trade studies, and develop technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate technical information to government and contractor personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of documented experience designing, optimizing, and integrating marine auxiliary and piping systems.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing ship machinery integration and cargo and weight handling systems analyses.
  • Experience supporting federal shipbuilding or boatbuilding acquisition programs is preferred.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) ACAT I or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Level I shipbuilding programs is preferred.
TRAVEL:
  • Travel may be required based on program and customer needs.
SECURITY:
  • Active Secret (T3) security clearance required.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $85,000 to $93,500 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
