Job summary

Solvere Technical Group seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer in the Washington, DC area to contribute to ship repair design and HM&E projects. You will perform engineering analyses, prepare drawings in AutoCAD, and support technical reviews while ensuring compliance with safety and contractual requirements.

A US citizen with CAC and security clearance is required. Responsibilities include planning tools and machines, overseeing system installation and maintenance, reviewing C4ISR and HM&E

Qualifications

  • BS in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • US citizenship with CAC and secret security clearance.
  • Experience with ACAT I acquisition processes is desirable.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD drawing development.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must meet DOT drug screening requirements.
  • Experience with ship repair design analysis and related reports desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design tools, engines, machines and other mechanical equipment.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and ship systems.
  • Review HM&E and C4ISR system deliverables and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate technical efforts for day‑to‑day program activities.
  • Maintain logs of design modifications with contacts and timelines.
  • Conduct weight, arrangement and electrical load analyses.
  • Review technical data, drawings and vendor publications for compliance.
  • Participate in meetings, providing technical feedback and recommendations.

Solvere is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.
  • Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Review technical deliverables pertaining to all HM&E and C4ISR systems to analyze and provide recommendations and input.
  • Coordinate and assist with all technical and engineering efforts required for the successful day to day activities of the program.
  • Maintain a current and complete log of all intended design modifications, listing the primary system, affected systems, potential or named engineering contractors, contractors’ points of contact, servicing agencies information, intended installation windows, hull applicability and maximum equipment lead times.
  • Conduct studies and analyses, such as weight studies, arrangement studies, distributed system checks, electrical load analysis updates, and safety/human factor engineering studies to better determine the complete scope of performance, configuration, and ILS impacts.
  • Conduct a review of all technical and logistics CDRL deliverables including technical drawings, technical reports, maintenance and support documents, and vendor technical publications.
  • Participate in any meetings or discussions related to technical issues or design challenges, providing technical feedback or recommendations.
  • Analyze technical reports from third party design validation sources and make recommendations regarding the thoroughness of the report and compliance with the specific requirements.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of technical data to assure conformance to operational and contractual specification requirements.
Security Requirement:
  • Must qualify for and receive a CAC card
  • Secret security clearance is required
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
Education:
  • BS in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with ACAT I acquisition program and processes highly desirable.
  • Trained in AutoCAD engineering drawing development highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must meet DOT drug screening requirements.
  • Familiar with the development of drawings, design analysis and technical reports for ship repair or related projects highly desirable.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
