Role Objectives:
Responsible for the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment associated with the company’s offshore vessels, inshore vessels, line handling boats, and dock facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair diesel inboard engines.
- Maintain and repair onboard generators.
- Maintain and repair outboard engines.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks onboard vessels.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist service providers with onboard maintenance and repairs.
- Participate in after-hours and emergency callouts.
- Refuel boats as needed.
- Maintain the shop and surrounding grounds, including buildings and docks.
- Operate a forklift and crane.
- Purchase supplies under the Maintenance Manager's guidance.
- Pick up parts and supplies from vendors.
- Assist in hurricane procedures when required.
- Help develop and improve Preventive Maintenance Programs.
- Use company truck to pull boats on trailers.
- Launch and retrieve boats from ramps.
- Basic electrical and welding skills are a plus.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate percentages, areas, and volumes.
- Teamwork, communication, and professionalism.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid TWIC and Driver’s License.
- Boat operator permit (state-issued).
- 5 years of work experience or a 2-year technical degree.
- Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Yamaha, and jet propulsion is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Use hands to handle objects, reach, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb, or balance frequently.
- Lift up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds often, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Visual acuity for close and distant vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work in various weather conditions, including day/night and near water.
- Climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, and operate machinery.
- Wear personal protective equipment.
- Work around moving machinery and in noisy environments.
- Perform under stress and in emergency situations.
Working Conditions:
- Work near others, indoors and outdoors, day and night.
- Work on/near water, with moving and vibrating equipment.
- Exposure to humidity, noise, fire, airborne dust, fumes, gases, and environmental hazards.
