Job summary

The Hornblower Group is seeking a Marine Technician to support maintenance and repair of passenger vessels based in Charlestown, MA and Quincy, MA. You will perform diesel engine and machinery maintenance on vessels in the fleet, with work conducted dockside and in dry dock, complying with USCG inspections.

The role requires hands-on experience with diesel engines, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and willingness to work weekends and holidays, wearing PPE when required.

Qualifications

• Unlicensed engine room technicians with hands-on vessel experience.
• Diesel or heavy machinery mechanics with formal training.
• Basic computer skills and strong communication.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and work in tight spaces outdoors.
• Willingness to wear PPE and work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and heavy maintenance on diesel engines and propulsion systems.
• Repair water jets, hydraulics, and steering components.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, generators, and controls.
• Conduct dry-dock repairs and assist shipyard personnel.
• Document maintenance in the company software and track work hours.
• Work assigned shifts by Port Engineer.
• Support vessel reliability through proper maintenance.
