Job summary

Kirby is seeking an experienced mechanic to diagnose and repair diesel engines and propulsion systems on customer vessels, at dock or sea. The role covers commercial and pleasure craft with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of related experience; a diesel tech certification is preferred. Overtime, weekends, and travel to customer sites may be required; benefits and company support are provided.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma required; 3–5 years related experience preferred.
  • Technical degree or certification in a diesel engine program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems on customer equipment and perform major repairs.
  • Coordinate with parts to identify and order needed components.
  • Perform routine maintenance per guidelines and schedules.
  • Complete work orders and time sheets accurately.
  • Be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Work independently in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow established quality standards and safety procedures.
