Job summary

Cajun Industries is seeking a Field Construction Manager (FCM) to lead inland marine construction across a defined region or mega-project. You will oversee multiple sites and Site Managers, driving execution, safety, and quality.

Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager, you will develop Construction Execution Strategies, coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials, and mentor site leadership across the Business Unit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marine, heavy civil, or industrial construction, including experience as a Site Manager or in a similar multi-project leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple Site Managers, projects, or a large-scale (mega) project.
  • Strong working knowledge of estimate review, Construction Execution Strategy (CES) development, and project controls (earned value, productivity, cost reporting).
  • Working knowledge of pile driving operations, marine equipment, and waterway/dock construction methods, along with broader construction disciplines.
  • Valid driver's license required; ability to travel across an assigned region or between project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of field operations across the Business Unit — a defined region or a specific mega-project — spanning multiple inland marine construction sites
  • Direct and supervise Site Managers and field supervisory staff across assigned projects
  • Promote and audit jobsite safety practices, checklists, and hazard recognition programs across all sites; partner with Business Unit safety leadership to ensure SOPs and control measures are effective
  • Understand basic computer and software skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Cajun's project management systems)
  • Coach and mentor Site Managers, and — through them — the Superintendents and site leadership beneath
  • Identify and develop future leaders; grow Foremen and General Foremen toward supervisory roles
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant construction disciplines — marine and civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, lifting and rigging, and deep foundations/pile driving
  • Partner with estimating during the estimate review process to shape execution strategy and field staffing plans
  • Write and present project-specific Construction Execution Strategies; plan and sequence work across multiple sites
  • Participate in project schedule development from mobilization through turnover, and monitor schedule performance across the portfolio
  • Understand and monitor manpower curves, job cost detail, and productivity/earned value metrics across projects
  • Understand contract terms — clarifications, liquidated damages, and related risk factors — as they affect execution
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials across projects and, where needed, across other Business Units
  • Ensure Site Managers have the tools, equipment, materials, and manpower needed to meet job requirements
  • Review cost reports, schedules, and turnover packages with Site Managers and Superintendents during site visits
  • Grow and maintain strong client relationships across projects
  • Facilitate Superintendent meetings; participate in safety committee and incident review discussions
  • Maintain a daily log of pertinent activities, conversations, and decisions
