Job summary

Edison Chouest Offshore seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engine room on a vessel, supervising the crew and ensuring reliable operation of propulsion and deck machinery. You will keep the Master informed about machinery status and coordinate maintenance, labeling, and inspections.

The role requires hands-on management, training of crew, and active participation in safety drills and emergency response.

Qualifications

• Merchant mariner credential required.
• Experience supervising engine room crew and vessel machinery maintenance.
• Ability to train and direct safety drills and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Manage the engineering department and keep Master informed of machinery state.
• Oversee operation, labeling, inspection, and maintenance of propulsion engines and deck equipment.
• Conduct safety and emergency drills; participate in training and safe work programs.
• Ensure paperwork requirements are met and compliance with USCG and environmental regs.
