Job summary

Maine Maritime Academy seeks a faculty member to teach undergraduate courses focused on engineering principles and related technologies used in marine and power engineering. Responsibilities include advising students, engaging in scholarship, and participating in service and administrative duties.

The ideal candidate will have real-world engineering experience, strong communication and leadership abilities, and a background in applied mechanics, thermodynamics, and refrigeration cycles.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or engineering technology, or a bachelor’s with USCG license and STCW endorsements.
• Professional experience applying engineering principles to solve problems or design components or systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach at the undergraduate level in areas allocated by the Department Head or Dean and contribute to curriculum development.
• Participate in departmental and faculty seminars to share research and foster collaboration.
• Contribute to development, administration and marking of exams and assessments.
• Inform students of progress by returning assignments promptly.
• Contribute to committees and working groups as requested.
• Maintain ongoing professional development and licenses as applicable.
