Job summary

MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME ACADEMY invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Systems Engineering teaching faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Start date is September 1, 2026, with a workload including Electrical Power Distribution, Energy Systems, and related core courses, plus lab instruction.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Engineering or MS in Engineering with PE license, with Massachusetts licensure expected within 6 months.
  • Proven teaching effectiveness and/or classroom innovation.
  • Ability to advise cadets and mentor students; commitment to DEI in engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in department courses including Electrical Power Distribution, Energy Systems, and Energy Strategy and Management, as well as core engineering courses with labs.
  • Responsible for undergraduate laboratory instruction and curricula, including design of experiments and learning outcomes.
  • Advise, mentor, and guide cadets on plans of study and progress toward degree.
  • Develop and teach new courses as needed, aligned with industry demands and department goals.
  • Participate in department and academy-wide committees to improve degree programs and support the academy’s mission.
