Job summary

Moran Towing Corporation seeks an Engineer to maintain and operate all machinery and spaces aboard our vessels in Lake Charles. The engineer reports to the Captain and manages maintenance schedules, logs, and critical inventories to support reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include fuel and lube oil management, deck work, and dock operations. A valid MMC/TWIC/STCW and USCG medical certification are preferred, with pre-employment drug screening required.

Qualifications

• MMC credential or eligible in 60 days
• TWIC credential
• STCW certification (if required)
• USCG 719k medical certification
• Pre-Employment Drug Screening

Responsibilities

• Familiarizing with current status on joining a boat with the off-going engineer
• Turn over duties to relief
• Report unsafe situations or opportunities for improvement
• Complete general and planned maintenance schedules
• Keep Captain and shoreside management apprised of conditions affecting vessel or schedule
• Maintain accurate engine logs, maintenance, and records
• Monthly fuel and lube oil reporting
• Oversee procurement, loading, and transfer of potable water, ballast water, fuel oil, and lube oil
• Act as PIC and sign entries on Inspection form and Oil Transfer Procedure
• Monitor quality and condition of engineering supplies
• Maintain inventories of spare parts and tools
• Work on deck including docking and mooring operations
• Act as lookout
• Perform other duties as designated
