Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a skilled technician to repair, maintain and rebuild construction machinery and power generation equipment. Under supervision, you’ll work in the service shop or in the field to minimize labor hours and avoid rework, while upholding safety standards.

You will repair Caterpillar and other manufacturers’ engines and components, use test equipment, and document field reports. Must possess strong diagnostics, communication skills, and basic computer proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years experience in repair/maintenance of EPG/Marine power generation equipment.
• Working knowledge of testing and diagnostic procedures.
• Basic diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
• Furnish mechanics' hand tools and test tooling for Caterpillar equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to document conditions and prepare reports.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access and CAT ET/SIS.

Responsibilities

• Maintains favorable relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Attends training classes as directed.
• Complies with safety, housekeeping and company policies.
• Reads technical data and schematics proficiently.
• Performs minor diagnostics and documents field reports.
• Repairs Caterpillar and other manufacturers’ engines and components.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to test, repair and/or adjust engines and components.
• Performs equipment inspections and fluid/filter changes; battery and cooling system work.
• Assists in performing overhauls on Caterpillar engines and components.
• Communicates pertinent information to management and teammates.
• Assists analyses of systems for proper operation.
