Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking an experienced technician to diagnose and repair Caterpillar and allied equipment. You will analyze engines, powertrains, electrical, and hydraulic systems, using Cat diagnostic tools and required software.

The role emphasizes cost control, timely communication, and cooperation with lead technicians and management. The position supports the new Cat Compact division and rental branch responsibilities, with opportunities for growth in a family-owned company focused on

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with 2–5 years experience in Caterpillar/heavy equipment repair.
• Apprenticeship or technical school in diesel technology preferred.
• Solid knowledge of basic hand tools, diagnostic software, and equipment handling.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose issues on Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components, and test assemblies.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar, Inc.
• Maintain accurate service reports documenting diagnostics and repairs.
• Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
• Adhere to safety and company policies.
