Birdon America Inc. is seeking a skilled marine electrician for our Bayou La Batre shipyard in Alabama. The role supports USCG boat safety and reliability with hands-on wiring, troubleshooting, and installation across 1000V systems.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of marine electrical experience and a high school diploma, with a strong foundation in marine electrical systems and practical site knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of experience as a marine electrician.
• Fundamental knowledge of marine electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Distinguish colors on Multi-Conductor Cable and understand color codes.
• Connect Single Phase and Three Phase Motors.
• Connect Single and Three Phase Transformers.
• Proper operation of ABT and MBT.
• Work with all voltages in AC Power Distribution up to 1000Volts.
• Parallel circuitry in both AC and DC.
• Connect Generators, check phase rotation of Generator, and parallel Generators.
• Change rotation on a three-phase motor.
• Knows proper sizes of Motor Starters (NEMA Ratings).
• Can check amp draw on equipment.
• Can trouble shoot wiring and equipment.
• Can troubleshoot MSLC and DSLC circuits.
• Terminates and understand PLC Circuits and Motor controllers.
