Job summary

Arc is seeking an Electrical Systems Engineer to own the design, build, and integration of HV/LV electrical systems on commercial vessels. This on-site role at the Los Angeles headquarters requires ownership, quick adaptation, and attention to detail to deliver reliable hardware-software integration.

You will lead topologies, wiring definitions, and supplier interactions, while supporting sea trials and field testing. Strong communication and white-box debugging skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in electrical systems integration, hardware development, or system-level engineering
• Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, power distribution, sensors, and actuators
• Familiarity with automotive or industrial communication protocols (CAN/J1939, Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT)
• Hands-on debugging HV/LV systems, harnesses, and hardware-to-software interfaces using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes
• Experience developing system requirements, I/O allocation maps, interface definitions, and architectural documentation
• Strong communication skills and ownership mindset

Responsibilities

• Own the design and integration of high and low voltage electrical systems for commercial marine vessels
• Develop and maintain electrical topologies, I/O maps, and wiring/harnessing definitions
• Write clear functional specifications and collaborate with the control software team
• Lead hardware trade studies, component selection, and supplier evaluation
• Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and debugging HV/LV systems in benchtop, HIL, and field environments
• Support sea trials to validate systems and ensure feature parity between bench tests and production vessels
• Interface with component suppliers, partner shipyards, and vessel operators, including travel (10-15%)
