Job summary

Arc, headquartered in Los Angeles, is seeking a Sales Application Engineer to own early-stage technical architectures, costing, and proposals for new commercial marine projects. This on-site role partners with the business development group to craft concept solutions and robust calculators for electrical loads, aiming to automate the application engineering work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in marine industry as an application/ design engineer or similar role.
• Knowledge of diesel-electric and fully electric propulsion systems.
• Familiarity with energy storage systems (ESS), switchgear, power electronics, and power management.
• Ability to read/interpret electrical single-line diagrams and system block diagrams.
• Basic CAD footprint/layout planning with CAD tools like NX or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business development to craft conceptual technical solutions and architectures for new marine projects.
• Develop internal sizing and estimation tools for electrical loads, thermal limits, and pricing.
• Size and specify 1000V DC buses, energy storage, switchgear, and propulsion motors.
• Create CAD layouts to validate space claims for major equipment within vessel hulls.
• Take ownership of BOMs, costs, and final pricing margins.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and technical writing to build clear bid packages.
• Assess customer requirements and ship specs to tailor optimized proposals.
• Present architectures to clients, shipyards, and naval architects during bidding.
