Job summary

US Coatings (USC) is seeking a Marine Coatings Blaster/Painter Helper in Charleston, SC. You will assist the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor with surface prep, coatings application, and related tasks on marine structures and tanks.

Responsibilities include surface prep, equipment maintenance, coating mixing, and helping with protective enclosures to prevent overspray. Travel to job sites is required; safety gear and procedures are essential throughout every shift.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow specific directions.
• Must be able to perform a variety of duties, which may frequently change.
• Must have experience working with blasting equipment such as sandblasters, UHP water blasters, pots, pumps, and hoppers, as well as various hand and power tools.
• Must be willing to learn all aspects of assigned tasks.
• Must be proficient in and committed to all safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE.
• Must be able to safely lift work materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Must be able to safely maneuver into and work in confined spaces, through hatches and erected scaffolding, and within ship hulls and interior tanks.
• 2+ years of experience in marine coatings applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to structures, tanks, and pipes.
• Assist with assembly, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of blasting and painting equipment.
• Assist in mixing and thinning coatings according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Help construct protective enclosures to prevent overspray.
• Cooperate with Supervisors and fellow workers.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Work safely and report unsafe conditions to the Supervisor.
• Keep the jobsite clean by removing trash and debris.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor.
