Job summary

US Coatings (USC) is seeking a Marine Coatings Blaster/Painter Helper to assist the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor with surface preparation and coatings on marine structures, tanks, piping, and related surfaces.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in marine coatings, can follow directions, work safely with PPE, lift up to 100 lbs, and travel to job sites as needed. The role requires teamwork and strict safety standards in varied shipboard environments.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow specific directions.
• Must be able to perform a variety of duties, which may frequently change.
• Must have experience working with blasting equipment such as sandblasters, UHP water blasters, pots, pumps, and hoppers, as well as hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to structures, tanks, piping, and surfaces per customer specs and manufacturer recommendations.
• Assist with assembly, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
• May assist in mixing and thinning coatings according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Assist in constructing protective enclosures to prevent overspray.
• Cooperate with Supervisors and fellow workers to complete tasks.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
• Maintain safety by using PPE (harnesses, hard hats, eye protection, gloves, respirators).
• Keep the jobsite clean and remove debris.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

US Coatings (USC) is currently seeking a Marine Coatings Blaster/Painter Helper. This position is responsible for effectively and safely assisting the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor with surface preparation, coatings application, and all associated phases of marine coatings.

Duties and Responsibilities

• As directed by the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor, assist in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to various structures, tanks, piping, and miscellaneous surfaces in accordance with customer specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
• Assist with the assembly, maintenance, repair, and cleaning of abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
• May assist in mixing and thinning coatings according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Assist in constructing protective enclosures to prevent overspray of customer equipment.
• Cooperate with Supervisors and fellow workers in carrying out assigned work.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
• At all times, perform work in the safest possible manner and immediately inform the Supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
• Keep the jobsite clean by removing trash, unused paint materials, and other debris.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience

• Must be able to follow specific directions.
• Must be able to perform a variety of duties, which may frequently change.
• Must have experience working with various blasting equipment, such as sandblasters, UHP water blasters, pots, pumps, and hoppers, as well as various hand and power tools.
• Must be willing to learn all aspects of assigned tasks.
• Must be proficient in and committed to all safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE such as harnesses, hard hats, eye protection, gloves, and respiratory protection.
• Must be able to safely lift work materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures.
• Must be able to safely maneuver into and work in confined spaces, through hatches and erected scaffolding, and within ship hulls and interior tanks.
• 2+ years of experience in marine coatings applications.

Travel

Must be willing to travel to job sites as current projects require.
