Job summary

SSA Marine is seeking a motivated Claims Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve third-party claims across marine, cargo, and bodily injury matters. The role collaborates with operations, safety, legal, and insurers, with a hybrid work structure of 3 days onsite per week.

The ideal candidate has strong investigative and communication skills, a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 2+ years of relevant experience. Travel and valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of claims, insurance, investigations, risk management, legal, transportation, or related experience preferred.
• Strong investigative and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must have a valid driver's license and travel as needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and business software applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations of property damage, cargo, bodily injury, vehicle, and general liability claims.
• Gather and analyze evidence such as photos, statements, contracts, invoices, and reports.
• Determine liability, evaluate damages, and develop resolution strategies.
• Maintain claim files, reserves, and documentation.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and carriers.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure timely investigations and evidence preservation.
