SSA Marine is seeking a motivated Claims Adjuster in Savannah, GA for a hybrid role combining remote work and on-site collaboration. The position involves investigating and resolving third-party claims arising from marine operations, with duties spanning evidence gathering, liability assessment, and settlement negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Investigate property damage, cargo, bodily injury, vehicle, and general liability claims.
• Gather and analyze evidence including photographs, witness statements, contracts, invoices, repair estimates, incident reports, and other supporting documentation.
• Determine liability, evaluate damages, and develop resolution strategies.
• Establish and maintain claim reserves with an effective documentation system.
• Prepare professional claim summaries, correspondence, settlement recommendations, and reports.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, insurance carriers, brokers, customers, and vendors.
• Maintain accurate claim files, reserve recommendations, and claim documentation.
• Coordinate with operational personnel to ensure timely incident investigations and evidence preservation.
• Assist with litigation management, subrogation recovery efforts, and insurance reporting.
• Identify claim trends and recommend loss prevention opportunities.
• Travel occasionally to conduct investigations, attend meetings, or support operational locations.

SSA Marine is seeking a motivated Claims Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve third-party claims arising from marine terminal, cruise, rail, and intermodal operations, including cargo, property damage, and bodily injury matters. This position will work closely with operations, safety, legal counsel, insurance carriers, and third parties to protect the company’s interests and support timely claim resolution.

We are seeking a strong investigator and communicator with excellent writing, analytical, and negotiation skills. Marine industry experience is not required; candidates with insurance, risk management, legal, law enforcement, transportation, logistics, or claims experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of claims, insurance, investigations, risk management, legal, transportation, or related experience preferred.
• Strong investigative and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must be able to communicate in a professional and proper manner with coworkers, management, clients and claimants.
• Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and business software applications.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

• Exposure to computer screens.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
• Occasionally conduct field investigations at terminal or incident locations, which may present working in inclement weather and/or challenging field conditions.
• Hybrid work structure of 3 days onsite per week.
• Responds to accidents and incidents in-person which could occur during scheduled onsite or remote days.

Pay Range: $60,000 - 75,000 per year

The posted compensation range is based on the applicable geographic market for the position and may vary depending on factors such as related experience and skill set. Final compensation will be determined based on these items and other relevant factors.
