Job summary

EMI Services is hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and to manage injuries across Camp Pendleton, CA and project sites.

The SSHO will conduct safety training, audits, and recordkeeping, while guiding environmental and HM programs in line with BO 5090.9, promoting a safe, compliant workplace. Competitive salary with employer-paid insurance is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) strongly preferred or 5+ years safety enforcement in similar scope.
• EMI-385-40 Certification required.
• OSHA 30 training with 24 hours CEU.
• Willing to work outside normal hours.
• Valid REAL ID driver's license.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• U.S. citizenship for access to military installations.

Responsibilities

• Review safety rules, regulations and orders to develop uniform interpretation and compliance procedures.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits and inspections.
• Ensure employee safety training is effective and documented.
• Establish and maintain a Safety Committee.
• Oversee environmental compliance and program implementation.
• Prepare and enforce safety/health programs and incident reporting procedures.
• Maintain federal-standard documentation and records.
• Lead HM safety operations and promote reduction of HM volume and toxicity.
• Serve as liaison for environmental compliance with Base orders.
