Job summary

Hornblower Corp. seeks an Assistant Engineer to support the Engineering Department aboard the Seaward Endeavor and Seaward Explorer. You will inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical and hydraulic equipment and lubricate engine systems to ensure safe vessel operations.

The role requires MMC, DD-4000, OICEW 500 for the next charter, US passport, USCG medical, QMED, TWIC, and the ability to pass physical and written exams. You may be required to train crew and assist in emergencies.

Qualifications

  • DD-4000 endorsement required.
  • OICEW credential required.
  • MMC (Merchant Mariners Credential) required.
  • Valid U.S. Passport.
  • USCG Medical Certificate.
  • QMED Endorsement.
  • TWIC Card.
  • Ability to pass a physical exam.
  • Ability to pass a written exam.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in ship’s technical maintenance and safe operation of machinery.
  • Follows engine room procedures.
  • Assists in engineering/technical department tasks.
  • Maintains bunkers and other engine-related stores and consumables.
  • Assists with safe loading and transfer of bunkers.
  • Runs day-to-day operations of all plant and machinery.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs under Chief Engineer guidance.
  • Stands engine room watch when underway or as needed.
  • Keeps logs of lube/oil quantities and consumptions.
  • Monitors and analyzes cooling water.
  • Maintains machinery condition and engineer systems.
  • Assists with firefighting and other emergencies onboard.
  • Imparts knowledge and provides on-the-job training to crew and new personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DD-4000 endorsement

Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)
