Job summary

Hornblower seeks a Third Assistant Engineer to maintain the vessel's engineering plant and supervise the engineering department. You will ensure systems operate within USCG and other regulatory requirements, and report issues to the Chief Engineer.

This role requires hands-on maintenance, training of junior engineers, and drills with marine and non-marine crew. The position is onboard a vessel on a 56 days on/56 days off rotation, with exposure to varying conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred from maritime academy or related field.
• Third Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horsepower USCG License.
• STCW 95 Certification.
• TWIC card required and must maintain.
• US Passport required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate vessel systems per USCG, FCC and other regulations.
• Report problems to Chief Engineer; understudy and assist in Chief Engineer's absence.
• Perform preventative maintenance; stock spare parts; manage sewage/oily water pumps.
• Maintain engine room safety and cleanliness; train new engineers.
• Conduct drills with marine and non-marine crew as directed.
• Work onboard on a 56 days on / 56 days off rotation; handle multiple tasks under time constraints.
• Log daily activities and assist shore technicians as needed.
