Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools is seeking a dedicated music instructor to teach student musicians and guard members in music, guard, and marching techniques for marching band, winter guard, and winter percussion competitions. You will motivate students to develop an appreciation of the arts and coordinate rehearsals and performances with the band director.

The role involves coaching ensembles, scheduling facilities, and maintaining high standards of conduct and safety during practices and events.

Qualifications

• Must possess effective teaching techniques and skills.
• Experience working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Assesses students skills and reports to the band director with any issues.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes rehearsal time for individual and ensemble development.
• Works with the band director to schedule facilities for practices and competition.
• Supervises and assigns duties to assistant coaches as necessary.
• Coaches and instructs members on rules, equipment, and techniques of the competitive arts.
• Observes members to determine needs for individual or ensemble improvement.
