Job summary

ROCKWOOL is seeking an experienced Senior Machine Operator-Format/Milling for our Byhalia, MS facility. The role runs 6:00 AM–6:00 PM with rotating days off on a 2-2-3 basis, supporting a fast-paced, continuous‑flow manufacturing environment.

You will operate, troubleshoot, and maintain multiple machines, inspect materials, and verify production to specifications, leveraging calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in machine set-up and computers.
• Minimum 2 years of machine operator experience.
• Able to understand how equipment operates to clear equipment safely.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions and product specifications.
• Practical knowledge of continuous flow automated manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains machines (sanding, shaping, cutting).
• Performs visual inspection of raw materials entering the area and verifies quality leaving the area.
• Uses measurement tools to ensure production is in specification (tape, calipers, micrometers).
• Assists with fleece applying device operation with machines and installations.

What you bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Understanding of key figures and how to maximize output.
• High mechanical aptitude with experience trouble shooting equipment.
• The ability to read and understand written instructions and product specifications.
• Practical knowledge in a continuous flow automated manufacturing process

• Able to use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometeors, and measuring tapes, etc.

What you will be doing:

• Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains all machines including but not limited to sanding, shaping, and cutting.
• Visual inspection of raw materials as entering the area and verification of quality leaving the area.
• Utilizes all measurements tools to verify all production is in specification. Including but not limited to tape measures, gauge blocks, calipers, and micrometers.
• Cooperation and supervision of the proper operation of the fleece applying device with all machines and cooperating installations jobs.

Physical Work Environment & Conditions

• Must be able to stand/walk on concrete floors for 12 or more hours during the course of a day.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced high volume production facility.
• Some lifting, bending, stooping, walking up/downstairs, fast-paced walking for some distance.
• The ability to lift 60 pounds & 120 pounds with another person.
• The ability to shovel heavy waste to shoulder height.
• The ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions for several hours daily while wearing protective + safety equipment required.
