Job summary

Oxco, LLC is hiring for a Manufacturing Utility Operator on 1st shift at our Fort Mill, SC facility. The role ensures production work centers have all necessary materials and supplies at the right time to avoid disruptions and maximize machine uptime.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure materials and supplies are ready for each work order to prevent workflow disruptions.
  • Safely operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts where applicable.
  • Support development and refinement of standard work and participate in cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Deliver materials and tooling to the assigned work center and keep the area orderly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety guidelines.

Role Summary - Manufacturing Utility Operator 1st Shift

This employee is primarily responsible for ensuring production work centers have all necessary materials and supplies at the right time and place, thereby preventing workflow disruptions and increasing machine uptime. Materials and supplies may include a combination of cut cores, packing materials, blade replacements, printing job supplies, and others that are required for completing each respective work order.

Functions/Responsibilities

  • Conduct, behavior and actions in accordance with Oxco core values of Caring, Creativity, Determination, Dependability and Teamwork
  • Conduct, behavior and actions in accordance with Oxco's Valued Colleague Pledge
  • Read and comprehend the requirements of the work order
  • Escalate any operational issues or concerns regarding safety, quality, delivery, or productivity
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, material carts, and (if applicable), fork trucks
  • Support creation and refinement of standard work, and participate in cost reduction initiatives
  • Deliver materials (non-raw goods), fixtures, and tooling to the assigned work center
  • Remove finished goods, empty containers, and scrap from workstation to keep area orderly
  • Safely operate the core cutting machine and/or circular saw to provide correct sizes and quantities of cores for multiple work orders across multiple shifts
  • Verify that WIP (work in process) cores are the correct length, diameter and thickness
  • Assist with preparing, cleaning, repairing, and storing Universal stenciling systems
  • Prepare blade holders and distribute them according to work order requirements
  • Replace wrapping material for L-Sealer, as required
  • Provide materials for work orders to include tape, staples, and any other supplies required
  • Communicate necessary information to the appropriate shift/department to ensure effective operations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety guidelines
  • Wear PPE applicable to the job being performed, maintain constant alertness
  • Other additional duties as assigned provided the necessary training requirements have been completed

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED with experience working in a manufacturing setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of Oxco's production equipment and processes is highly preferable.

Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of basic measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Mathematical reasoning - able to perform mathematical and measurement conversions, knowledge of common units for textiles
  • High attention to detail - ability to see errors and identify inconsistencies
  • Problem Solving - work independently and with others to resolve issues
  • Collaboration - Work effectively with operators, material handlers, and other personnel to achieve established outcomes
  • Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Multi-tasking - Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks with deadlines
