Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) in Waterloo, Iowa, is seeking a Training Manager to lead onboarding and ongoing skills and compliance training across the organization. This on-site role ensures employees in every department are trained safely, efficiently, and per company procedures and regulatory requirements.

You will design onboarding, administer skills assessments, develop curricula including OSHA compliance and safety protocols, and maintain training records to support audits and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, or related field required
• 3-5 years of experience in training, learning & development, or a related role
• Proven ability to design and deliver hands-on technical training across a variety of departments and job functions
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry-specific compliance requirements
• Basic understanding of shop math and ability to read blueprints, specifications, and follow procedures
• Strong organizational skills, including managing training records and certification tracking
• Attention to quality and pride in workmanship
• Problem analysis and problem resolution at an organizational level
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train employees across varying experience levels and shifts

Responsibilities

• Prepare onboarding schedules and training checklists by partnering with department leaders
• Deliver structured onboarding training company-wide, including production topics and safety protocols
• Administer internal skills assessments and evaluate readiness through hands-on observation
• Design and deliver ongoing skills training across departments to reinforce quality workmanship
• Develop and maintain compliance training curricula including OSHA requirements and PPE use
• Track and manage training records, certifications, and renewal schedules for audits
• Coordinate training for new equipment and process changes with engineering and operations
• Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments and performance metrics
• Maintain training materials and e-learning content for all departments
• Document actions by completing training and compliance forms
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment and wear PPE
• Identify safety and health concerns by surveying conditions
• Contribute to team effort by achieving related results
