Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Test Software Intern for Winter/Spring 2027. You will develop tools for calibration and testing of electromechanical and robotic systems, bridging software with hardware to advance next-generation 3D printers.

You’ll collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, utilize Python, SQL, and Linux, and own the test-tools lifecycle from design to deployment.

Qualifications

• Experienced developing applications using Python, SQL and Linux.
• Strong understanding of software integration with embedded systems and engineering of complex electromechanical systems.
• Knack for creative solutions to difficult real world problems.
• Ability to take features from concept through design and implementation.
• Experience with robotics and Linux.
• Bonus: experience working in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software tools for calibration, validation, and testing of electromechanical and robotic systems.
• Manage requirements with cross-functional teams to deliver testing solutions on time.
• Modify printers and test setups to enable experiments.
• Own lifecycle of test tools ecosystem including design, validation, docs, deployment, and maintenance.
• Apply data science to analyze production lines and provide insights.
• Improve development and deployment processes to streamline software releases globally.
