Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Winter/Spring 2027 in Somerville, MA. You will design, assemble, test, and evaluate 3D printers, participate in design reviews, and build prototype components using our in-house facilities.

You will apply CAD skills, create engineering drawings, and learn documentation control while communicating with vendors to resolve production challenges. A portfolio of previous work is required.

Qualifications

• Portfolio of engineering work/projects required.
• Experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems a plus.
• CAD skills and ability to create engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design, assemble, test, and evaluate 3D printers.
• Participate in design reviews and solve design/manufacturing problems.
• Build prototype components and assemblies using in-house facilities.
• Create CAD parts, drawings, and maintain documentation control.
• Assist with vendor communications to overcome production challenges.
