Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions, part of Amphenol Corporation, seeks a Manufacturing Technology Engineering Specialist to join the High Speed Backplane team in Nashua, NH or Etters, PA. You will build cost models guiding early technology decisions, assessing materials, processes, equipment, and labor to identify timely cost-reduction opportunities before design lock-in.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Quality, or Materials Engineering or related field is required.
• 3–5 years in a high-volume manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Strong problem solving, logical reasoning, and attention to detail are required.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required; CAD skills are needed.

Responsibilities

• Analyze developing materials, manufacturing processes, and processes to propose cost-effective applications.
• Interact with External Vendors to understand technology gaps versus in-house capabilities.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including value engineering and manufacturing.
• Perform cost-benefit analyses and compare in-house vs vendor costs; explain material consumption differences.
• Conduct gap analyses and assess capital payback and business-case implications.
• Support second sourcing and geo-diversity in supply chain; consider multiple suppliers and countries.
• Quantify process implications of stamping, plating, molding, assembly, welding, and automated systems.
• Conduct competitive analysis by reverse engineering to understand potential processes and costs.
• Travel occasionally to domestic and international manufacturing sites.
