Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Co. in Buffalo, NY is seeking a bakery production worker to operate high-speed equipment in processing and packaging to produce Milk-Bone products.

Shifts run afternoons and evenings with weekly rotation, and some weekend work is required. Responsibilities

  • Cross-train across processing and packaging areas; maintain safety and quality standards.

Job description

Starting pay is $23.40/hour (plus shift differential, if applicable).
Year 2 = $26.74
Year 3 = $28.41
Year 4 = $33.43

First year: $70K+ with overtime.

Wage progression over 3 years to a max of $33.43+/hr.
With overtime up to $85K+ / year

SUMMARY:
Work in a variety of areas, operating high-speed manufacturing production equipment in processing and packaging to produce Milk-Bone product for the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Positions are afternoons and evenings and shifts can alternate weekly. Assignedshift attendance and weekend work is required.
  • Follow all company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Produce high quality products in a safe and healthful manner.
  • Work in all areas of processing and packaging, as assigned, which includes operating, being in close proximity to and crossing platforms over machinery. Cross-training will occur throughout the facility in all aspects of high-speed manufacturing.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Assist fellow employees as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.   • 3+ years related manufacturing experience or equivalent technical/vocational experience preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High-school degree or equivalent is required. Associate degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMP’s and general instructions. Good communication skills are required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out both oral and written instructions.

  • The employee must be able to squat or kneel and to bend on a frequent basis.
  • The employee must be able to work in a cold and hot environment.
  • The employee must be able to tolerate exposure to flour and yeast materials.
  • The employee must be able to climb steps on a frequent basis.

This position is located in a bakery which is a high temperature environment, especially in the summer months. This position requires you to spend the majority of your shift on your feet and walking.
