Position Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor, reporting to the Operations Manager, is a fundamental leader in the York manufacturing team. The Manufacturing Supervisor leads a team of employees in final assembly cells to meet daily targets in key areas including safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Job Functions

  • Foster a strong safety culture by encouraging employees to proactively recognize and escalate safety opportunities.
  • Communicate cross-functionally when faced with production scheduling challenges, on-time delivery issues, or quality concerns.
  • Regularly assess cell’s capacity and effectively allocate resources to ensure maximum daily productivity.
  • Generate written reports to Operations Manager addressing estimated time to completion when there is backlog in the cell.
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve Key Performance Indicators.
  • Resolve employee relation issues that may arise, escalating to the Operations Manager and Human Resources when appropriate.
  • Approve timecards and manage PTO requests from employees, ensuring there is enough coverage in the cell.
  • Recognize opportunities for process improvement and make suggestions with solutions to operational leaders.
  • Ensure team members are following established work instructions and quality standards that are in line with ISO standards.
  • Identify and develop talent within the team to foster an effective, engaged workforce.
  • Complete annual performance appraisals for employees.
  • Actively contributes to the reduction of scrap and other material waste.
  • Possess knowledge of the assembly and machine set up requirements for the cells.
  • Perform board and unit final inspection when needed.
  • Adhere to electrostatic discharge safety standards as well as all other established safety standards.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Related Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of progressive supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment, working with lean tools such as Kanban, 5S, Kaizen, etc.

Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge

  • Certification in or knowledge of Electronics Industry standards such as IPC-610 and J-STD is a plus.
