The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the production operations in a manufacturing facility, ensuring that all processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This role involves managing a team of production workers, implementing safety protocols, maintaining quality standards, and meeting production targets.
Responsibilities
- Production Management:
- Supervise day-to-day production operations to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to meet production targets.
- Identify and resolve any production issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Team Supervision:
- Train, supervise, and evaluate production staff.
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and monitor employee performance.
- Foster a positive work environment and encourage team collaboration.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that production processes comply with quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain product integrity.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety training and ensure that staff adhere to OSHA guidelines.
- Investigate accidents and implement preventive measures.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Develop and implement process improvement strategies.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing department to maintain adequate stock.
- Ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and components to prevent production delays.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in process improvement, quality control, and team leadership.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in manufacturing equipment and production systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (certification preferred).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software.
- Certifications:
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification (preferred).
- OSHA Safety Certification (preferred).
