A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab will operate its leading‑edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America’s leading technology companies are ready to rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the digital future.

If you like spending time on the computer, figuring out puzzles or games, and finding solutions to problems, then this could be the role for you!

As a Manufacturing Specialist Trainee, you’ll help manage automated systems from your computer in the Manufacturing Command Center (MCC) or inside the cleanroom* (also known as “the Fab”). You’ll be looking at multiple computer screens to make sure everything is running smoothly and staying on schedule. If something goes wrong, you’ll help fix the issue or work with others to solve it. We will teach you how!

Responsibilities
  • Learn about the processes and keep up with procedure updates by reading documents provided.
  • Watch the monitoring system and check for alerts to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Complete important tasks quickly and safely, following instructions provided.
  • Team up with others to fix or solve a problem.
  • Must be able to attend every day, M‑F from 9a‑6p for the first 5‑week training session.
  • Must be able to work the Compressed Work Schedule (12‑hour shifts) after initial training is complete.
Skills You’ll Need
  • Be comfortable using desktop computers and programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Use multiple screens to access different programs and multiple reports that were taught during training.
  • Sit and work at a computer for long periods.
  • Type quickly and accurately (at least 35 words per minute) on a desktop computer.
  • Follow detailed instructions and fill out documents carefully.
  • Ability to remember colors, functions, and report types.
Definitions

Cleanroom: A clean room is a sterile environment. To minimize dust, skin, or clothing particles, you will wear a suit made of nylon material over your clothes. You will wear booties over your shoes and leg coverings. Along with wearing latex gloves, a hairnet, and a mask, you will wear a hood made of the same nylon material with an opening for your eyes. You will wear safety glasses, and, in some cases, you may need to wear a hard hat. Also known as “the Fab.”

Schedule after successful completion of Basic Training: Schedules are 10‑ or 12‑hour shifts that run on a 24‑hour cycle. This would mean the shift would be four days of 10‑hour shifts with 3 days off, or three days of 12‑hour shifts and four days off the first week of the pay period, and then four days of 12‑hour shifts and three days off the second week known as “Compressed Work Schedule.”

There are 4 different shifts:

  • A. day shifts at the beginning of the week;
  • B. night shifts at the beginning of the week;
  • C. day shifts at the end of the week;
  • D. night shifts at the end of the week.
