Job summary

Pretium Packaging is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment in a Hazleton-area facility. You will work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems, performing preventive maintenance and supporting safety and quality standards.

You will read blueprints and schematics, use diagnostic tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and improve plant performance.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 2+ years maintenance experience in manufacturing or food production environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and facility systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and equipment adjustments.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC issues.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance.
• Maintain maintenance records and work orders.
• Assist with equipment installations and startup activities.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve reliability.
• Support plant shutdowns, changeovers, and special projects.

What You'll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and equipment adjustments
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC issues
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance needs
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, testing, and startup activities
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process enhancements
• Support plant shutdowns, changeovers, and special projects as needed
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
• Follow all safety, food safety, quality, and environmental procedures

What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, industrial, food production, or similar environments
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of:
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Pneumatics
  • HVAC systems
• Ability to read and interpret:
  • Blueprints
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Schematics
  • Technical manuals
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment

• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree, apprenticeship, or vocational training in:

• Food manufacturing experience
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and climb throughout the shift
• Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Work at heights and in confined spaces when required
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
