Job summary

Simon, a Colas USA subsidiary, offers an internship program in Rapid City, SD, designed to expose students to industry operations with 1:1 mentorship and networking opportunities. Interns work across administrative and operational areas, contributing to focused projects and applying classroom concepts to business operations.

As part of the program, interns engage in projects related to quality control and production of aggregate, ready-mix, or asphalt/emulsion, under mentor guidance.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills including use of MS Office Products.

Responsibilities

• Embrace the Company's safety culture and support safety initiatives.
• Support the company core values and follow policies and ethics.
• Participate in production and quality control planning.
• Assist quality control staff with lab duties and materials testing.
• Perform aggregate sampling and gradation testing.
• Assist work crews in manufacturing and crushing operations.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Complete capstone project/presentation to leadership at internship end.
