Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead high-impact manufacturing and process transformation initiatives.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance using Lean, Six Sigma, and project management methodologies. Ideal candidates are problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to translate data-driven insights into sustainable improvements and mentor others in

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field (engineering, operations, or related).
  • Experience leading Lean/CI initiatives in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision making.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, throughput, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma DMAIC methodologies to drive process transformations and waste reduction.
  • Develop and execute project plans including scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and implementation strategies.
  • Identify opportunities, justify improvements financially, and establish metrics to measure impact.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support process development, facility improvements, and equipment implementation.
  • Collaborate across Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, and Product Engineering.
  • Coach teams on Lean principles and lead cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
